My name is Steve Miller, and I lived and worked in Japan for nearly 30 years, mostly in the interactive entertainment industry. In my last 14 years in Japan, I was the Managing Director for Asia for a global video game publisher. 

I have been collecting Japanese swords since 1988, and have been translating sword-related items since I retired from the interactive industry in 2021.

The vocabulary used by swordsmiths, metalworkers, and appraisers, is highly specialized. AI-based translation tools still struggle with sword terminology.
